PhD Studentship in Post-Conflict Reconstruction

Ashgate Publishing marked its 40th anniversary with a remarkable and innovative project undertaken through its associated charity, the Estelle Trust. With 40 years of publishing knowledge, Ashgate and the Estelle Trust aspire to make a contribution towards the generation of knowledge and the development of human capacity within the area of post-conflict reconstruction in Africa. As such, Ashgate with the Estelle Trust has funded a full doctoral scholarship from January 2009 for an individual from a post-conflict African country to study at the world renowned Department of Peace Studies, University of Bradford, UK.

The successful candidate is Job Akuni from Uganda. Job has a Masters degree in Peace and Governance from the Institute of Peace, Leadership and Governance from the University of Africa in Mutare, Zimbabwe and a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and Geography from Kyambogo University in Kampala, Uganda.

Job Akuni's PhD research will concentrate on the extent to which indigenous conflict management approaches are effective in resolving conflicts among the Acholi community in Northern Uganda.
