Ashgate responds quickly to new ways of thinking, new areas of concern and to new issues of current debate. The International Relations list is fully peer reviewed and prides itself in being able to respond quickly to its authors, providing a positive publishing experience for established and junior scholars alike.

Publisher for the Politics and International Relations programme, Kirstin Howgate, works closely with Senior Commissioning Editor, Rob Sorsby and Assistant Editor Brenda Sharp to always provide the necessary support and encouragement to assist authors in bringing their initial proposal ideas to book fruition.

Kirstin has worked for Ashgate since 1997 when she started as a junior editor on the law, reference and politics lists. Since then she has also worked on the business list but for the last 16 years has managed the Politics and International Relations programme. Kirstin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography which she obtained from London Guildhall University and involved spending part of her time in America. She went on to obtain a Master of Arts at the University of Essex in European Politics. Ashgate prides itself in being a truly global company. As such, Kirstin has previously been based in America and France and for the next 2 years, Kirstin will be located in Germany.

Joining our team in 2011, Rob Sorsby is responsible for the development of our Politics list. More about Rob and his plans for the list can be found on his Politics page.

Brenda is the newest member of our team and joins us having recently completed a Master of Science in Political Theory at the London School of Economics. Brenda has much to offer Ashgate both from her interest in and knowledge of Political Science and she is committed to providing editorial support to authors in the field.

This programme reaps the benefits of all three editors being totally committed to excellence from initial author communication through to publication. Authors will find being part of this programme an enjoyable and rewarding publishing experience that can only be gained from working with a research dedicated independent publisher.
