Ashgate Companions

Ashgate’s Companions collection has become a major presence in the library market. Companions are increasingly seen as ‘core’ titles in library subject collections where they earn their shelf space by their authoritative content, up-to-date information, accessibility and relevance. To date there are over 40 Companion titles in print with new titles added each month. Each Companion is a multi-authored reference resource with the following unique features:

  • New introduction: by the Companion editor and offering an overview of the latest research in the field
  • New essays: by leading experts in their field, selected for their prominence by the Companion’s editor
  • Case studies: many Companions feature detailed case studies
  • Bibliography: extensive and comprehensive references to source material
  • Full index
  • More information on Introductions, Contents and Indexes can be viewed for each title on the Companion title record on our website

Ashgate is actively commissioning more Companions in all our subject areas. If you would like to suggest an idea for a Companion or want to send us a proposal, please contact the relevant Commissioning Editor by email.
