International Centre for Complex Project Management (ICCPM)
In 2005,
Australian, UK and US Government bodies and defence industry
commenced an initiative aimed at improving the international
community’s ability to successfully deliver very complex projects
and manage complexity across all industry and government
sectors.
Central to this initiative was the establishment in September
2007 of an international not-for-profit company to provide global
leadership to achieve this exciting objective. That company is the
International Centre for Complex Project
Management (ICCPM), previously known as the College of Complex
Project Managers.
Government support has since expanded to include Canada and
Singapore and a growing number of global corporate
partners including BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen
Hamilton and Thales.
There is a strong emerging body of evidence and research
indicating that traditional, linear project management tools and
techniques, while still necessary, are insufficient to manage the
most complex of today’s projects through to successful delivery on
time and within costs and performance targets.
With support from its corporate partners, ICCPM has already made
a significant contribution towards the development and delivery of
the world’s first Executive Masters in Complex Project Management
through the Queensland University of Technology. ICCPM will
continue to support the development and delivery of education and
training programs, aimed at improving global capability to deliver
complex projects and manage complexity.
Potential benefits and savings from the improved management of
complex projects are significant. Not only will there be
substantial direct returns to ICCPM partner organisations, there
will also be an increase in the capacity of the global
community to effect the strategic change objectives required for
these complex times.
