More About Ashgate's Human Geography List
The
overall heading of Geography belies the fact that, as well as
covering the broad span of human geographical research, the list
features all aspects of spatial research, including architecture,
environmental studies, planning, urban design, transportation and
tourism.
Initially known for its planning and regional studies books,
Ashgate has in recent years been focusing on more cultural,
political and economic aspects of space and place, as can be seen
from our rapidly growing series, Re-materialising Cultural Geography, Heritage, Culture and Identity, and Ashgate Economic Geography Series. Another key
area of the list is tourism, which has focused on the cultural
aspects of this subject and linked into the cultural and heritage
debates.
Two exciting new series for the list, Critical Geopolitcs and Critical Food Studies reflect the topical and
valuable research going on in these fields. Our environmental
studies list continues to grow and includes our well-established
Environmental Policy and Practice
series.
We are also focusing on building up our architecture and urban
design areas where there is currently much stimulating and
important debate and have three strong series; Ashgate Studies in Architecture, Ashgate Studies in Interior Architecture and
Design and Design and the Built
Environment.
Ashgate also has a thriving reference publishing programme; two
recent major reference projects include Contemporary Foundations in Space and Place:
Critical Essays in Human Geography edited by John Agnew, and
Critical Essays in Planning Theory,
edited by Patsy Healey and Jean Hillier. We also run a research
companion programme which offers comprehensive and authoritative
state-of-the-art reviews of current research in a particular
area.
Our aim is to present an innovative, lively and ground-breaking
programme, high quality both in terms of content and production
quality.
