More About Ashgate's Human Factors List

Ashgate’s Human Factors list is renowned within the field for its extraordinary range and depth of quality. Since publishing the seminal Human Factors in Flight by Frank Hawkins in 1987, our list of authors has read almost as a ‘who’s who’ of this exciting and extremely significant field of research. Please browse our range online or download the latest catalog to see what we have to offer. To make sure you are fully up to date with our new publications, you can sign up to receive email updates which will alert you to new human factors titles as they are published.

The science of human factors (HF) has expanded far beyond its origins in aviation and we are now regularly publishing research monographs and contributed volumes reporting on work carried out specifically within other safety-critical domains. Ground transportation is one such area, and to address the need for dedicated specialist publications here we have the series Human Factors in Road and Rail Transport. Similarly, the Human Factors in Defence series publishes works directly relevant to military environments and applications. Naturally there will always be great HF activity within aviation and for this purpose we have the series Ashgate Studies in Human Factors for Flight Operations. Also, the Ashgate Studies in Resilience Engineering series charts the evolution of this significant movement in safety systems thinking and its application to all domains. All series feature an editorial board of the highest calibre and within each you will find fascinating works at the very forefront of HF research and applied psychology.

In addition to the series mentioned above, we will continue to expand the range of publications and offer works on HF research carried out within, or applicable to, all high-consequence industries, such as healthcare, drilling/mining, nuclear power, shipping and heavy industry. New book proposals specific to such areas are particularly welcome. If you have an idea for a new book that you would like to discuss with us, please contact the Publisher, Guy Loft.
